The Figure Assembly hosts on-going life drawing events hosted together with James Gallagher. It’s open to the public and invites artists of all levels to take part in drawing the model.
James and I met at a figure drawing session. We have found that capturing the human form is an incredible expressive opportunity and wanted to share their love of it with others. We welcome artists to work in any medium and various styles from realistic to completely abstract. The process can be meditative and immersive and often requires complete concentration which is relaxing and fulfilling. We also provide beer, wine, seltzer and custom-made playlists.
Our favorite part of hosting these events is that we provide opportunities for people to meet each other and build a community. We have breaks where artists get to talk and reflect on what they are working on. At the end of the evening, everyone is encouraged to share their work (only if they want!) and get a chance to see what others have made.

Invite us over. Want us to host an event at your workplace, next party, shop? This is an exciting chance to try something new with your co-workers, friends, or offer to your customers. James and Julia will bring a session to you. We can tailor the evening specifically to your desires. As professional artists and instructors who have taught classes at School of Visual Arts, Parsons and RISD, we can also give instructional lessons beforehand and provide helpful feedback if participants want to take this to another level.
The Figure Assembly x You. Want a curated session to promote your brand? We work with brands to curate a group of professional illustrators and artists to take part in a session focused around your product. For example, if you are a swimsuit company, we could have our model wear your swimsuit and have a group of professional illustrators capture the look. Everyone at the event would tag the art they made to your brand on social channels. This could work for any kind of product, not just apparel and accessories. We are happy to work with you to tailor the event to exactly what makes sense for your brand.
Be a sponsor. We are always looking for sponsors for our event. Want to provide drinks or snacks? Art supplies? Anything else? In exchange James and Julia will thank and link to you on all social channels with each post for the evening you sponsor. We would also request our participants tag you as well.
