This is the studio of illustrator Julia Rothman and her husband, filmmaker Jan Oliver Lucks. But it is also a place for all of us - to be creative, meet other fun people, draw, dance, talk, experiment. The space is located at 543 Union St at Nevins in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

Join us for a special Drawing Night featuring a live puppeteer: Ricky Syers! Our model for the evening will be bringing their puppet to life through movement, poses, and performance, giving us a playful and unusual subject to draw. Come sketch, experiment, and capture the character and energy of the puppet in motion.
As always, our guest will be in conversation with journalist Joshua David Stein, offering a behind-the-scenes look at an artist's life. Not a nude session.

Speed Portrait Night $30
Imagine speed dating but drawing instead of talking! Also nix the romance. We will sit in pairs across from each other and rotate after 6 minutes until everyone has been drawn. We will share all the portraits on the wall and see how everyone saw everyone. This is gonna be super chaotic in all the best ways! Please bring loose paper for this- not bound books so we can hang all the portraits at the end. And whatever supplies you want. Beer and seltzer is complimentary. Ticket non-refundable.

Seen Here’s Julia Rothman and Joshua David Stein will lead an immersive evening that blends performance, figure drawing, and conversation at The Morgan Library.
Inspired by the current exhibition Fantasy and Reality: The Art of Johan Tobias Sergel and the artist's muscular figures, the evening features the legendary bodybuilder and Mr. Olympia runner up Victor Martinez. As Martinez poses for a live drawing session, he will discuss his life as a professional bodybuilder.
