This is the studio of illustrator Julia Rothman and her husband, filmmaker Jan Oliver Lucks. But it is also a place for all of us - to be creative, meet other fun people, draw, dance, talk, experiment. The space is located at 543 Union St at Nevins in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

This session features Martial Vivot, the master barber and owner of Martial Vivot Salon on 54th Street in Manhattan, known to The New York Times as “The Gentleman’s Barber” and trusted by many of the city’s most powerful figures.
As Martial gives a haircut to our host Joshua David Stein, participants will have the rare opportunity to sketch the scene in real time, capturing the gesture and intimacy of the moment. Between snips and strokes, Joshua will interview Martial about his craft, his clients, and the timeless art of the perfect cut.

Please join Sarah Jacoby and Esme Shapiro as they celebrate the publication of The Coziest Place on the Moon and Don’t Eat Me! The Almost True Story of Belladonna with Enchanted Lion Books.
We’ll raise a toast to flowers and friendship over an animated still life session. The still life arrangement will represent details from the worlds of both books: earthly flowers and other worldly space rock. Come explore these textures together-We’ll play a drawing game, enjoy a dusty pastel painting demo, and, of course, imagine ourselves as flowers.
BYO materials. Drinks will be served, books will be available to purchase via the fine folks from EL. Heads up: if you buy a book, you’ll most likely receive an original art gift from us, so prepare yourselves.
