This is the studio of illustrator Julia Rothman and her husband, filmmaker Jan Oliver Lucks. But it is also a place for all of us - to be creative, meet other fun people, draw, dance, talk, experiment. The space is located at 543 Union St at Nevins in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

Seen Here: Violinist $30

In this edition of Seen Here, we welcome world-renowned violinist Jennifer Koh for an evening of expressive performance, presence, and artistry. A Grammy winner, Jennifer plays everything from Bach to cutting-edge contemporary works, and through her non-profit Arco has commissioned nearly 150 new pieces of music, more than 100 of which she’s premiered herself. She is also the Artistic Director of the chamber music series at the Kennedy Center. Expect soaring bow strokes, intense emotion, and the rare chance to sketch a living legend in action, all ready to be captured in your unique drawing style.

As always, our guest will be in conversation with journalist Joshua David Stein, offering a behind-the-scenes look at life on the concert stage. From practice to premiere, we’ll get the inside scoop while you sketch the spectacle. Not a nude session.

Please bring loose paper for this- not bound books so we can hang all the portraits at the end. And whatever supplies you want. Beer and seltzer is complimentary. Ticket non-refundable.
