This is the studio of Julia Rothman. But it is also a place for all of us - to be creative, meet other fun people, draw, dance, talk, experiment. The space is located at 543 Union St at Nevins in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

Artists are always seeking meaningful ways to use their talents for good. We invite you to join us in an event where listening and creative expression come together. A guest speaker will share insights on urgent issues concerning climate change and ways we can make a difference. In response, artists will create work inspired by the discussion—art that can be shared by the both the artist and the nonprofit to amplify the message and drive change. We will share all the portraits on the wall and see how everyone saw everyone. This is gonna be super chaotic in all the best ways! Block Printing Patterns with Kate Zaremba $50
Turn your drawings into patterns with artist Kate Zaremba. In this block printing workshop, you will learn how to design, carve, and print your own block for creating printed paper goods, textiles, and wallpaper. Once your block is ready you will learn how to ink and print your design onto both paper and fabric. You do not need to know how to draw to take this class! Kate Zaremba has been designing wallpaper and textiles for 15 years and is newly based in Brooklyn.

Collage Workshop with James Gallagher $40
Whether you're an experienced artist or an absolute beginner this workshop is sure to inspire you and expand your understanding of this age-old medium. The session begins with an overview of the history of collage, showcasing important work from the past to present day in order to generate ideas and ignite creativity. After a brief demo of tools and techniques participants can begin to create their own works of art in a fun and relaxed setting. The instructor will be working alongside the group providing examples and suggestions, as well as giving individual feedback and encouragement. The session typically ends with a group show-and-tell where everyone can see the wide range of styles and surprising results that make collage such an exciting and powerful medium.

This is a one-on-one session with Julia to go over anything you want with your work. Need advice about getting into illustration, making books, marketing yourself. You’ll sit and talk and look over your work (if you want) for an hour and a half. You can ask anything and I will do my best to try and help!
