This is the studio of Julia Rothman. But it is also a place for all of us - to be creative, meet other fun people, draw, dance, talk, experiment. The space is located at 543 Union St at Nevins in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
Important: Please arrive on time. Entry is only possible during the 20 minutes before the event starts due to building access restrictions.

Imagine speed dating but drawing instead of talking! Also nix the romance. We will sit in pairs across from each other and rotate after 5 minutes until everyone has been drawn. We will share all the portraits on the wall and see how everyone saw everyone. This is gonna be super chaotic in all the best ways! Please bring loose paper for this- not bound books so we can hang all the portraits at the end. And whatever supplies you want. Beer, wine, seltzer is complimentary. Ticket non-refundable.

Drawing from Objects with Ananya Broker Parekh $25
In this fast-paced, participatory drawing workshop, each person brings an object that holds personal meaning. After briefly sharing the story behind their object, everyone will take quick notes — visual, emotional, or narrative. Then the participants will sketch each other's objects in short timed bursts, capturing not just form, but feeling. The goal is not perfection, but presence — tuning into another person’s object and drawing with empathy, curiosity, and play. Please bring your own supplies. Ticket non-refundable.
